2017 Arts & Literary Magazines Summit Report

On the final day of MagNet 2017, nearly 70 attendees representing arts and literary magazines from across the country gathered for a full day of learning, knowledge-sharing and networking. The day included an entertaining and inspiring keynote speech by writer, composer and artist, Gary Barwin, as well as sessions on branding your editorial, diversity and the new grants landscape, membership programs for magazines and a practical guide to newsletters.

This report, written by event host Hal Niedzviecki, summarizes the session content and discussion topics from that day, and draws conclusions about the present and future state of cultural magazines in Canada.
