Magazines Canada’s Business Media Leadership Summit is the only Canadian event for senior business media executives. Leaders from across Canada’s business media spectrum gather to share their experiences, learn from each other and capture the essentials required for success in today’s B2B environment, with a focus on discussing common issues and challenges, exploring partnerships and developing new business strategies.
The 2017 Business Media Leadership Summit took place February 6–7 at Kingbridge Conference Centre, King City, just north of Toronto (near Pearson Airport).
Summit programming is created based on the input of a wide variety of business media publishers, and each presentation is geared to help you run your businesses better. 2017 Summit attendees heard from:
Robert “Bo” Sacks, owner of the Precision Media Group and publisher of the Heard on the Web Media Intelligence daily enewsletter, delivered the summit’s keynote address.
Dana DiTomaso, president and partner of digital marketing agency Kick Point, on “Making the Most of Social Media.”
Michael Stoeckel, vice-president of global tech strategy at Prohaska Consulting, on “The Data Explosion” and “Programmatic Buying.”
Mitch Dent, growth catalyst, on “Sales Training, Motivation & Compensation.”
Chuck Nervick, senior vice-president at MediaEdge Communications, on “Events: Opportunity Identification & Execution.”
Daniel Langer-Hack, partner and vice-president of strategy at The Tite Group, on “Content Marketing.”
The agenda also included a Magazines Canada update on B2B services; and a problem-solving workshop. This workshop session saw attendees divided into teams to address such issues as Speed to Market; Custom Publishing: Leveraging Expertise; How much to Invest in Audience Development; Editorial Integrity in a World of Native Advertising; “Fast & Dirty Business Planning,” and more. Over the course of the Summit the teams drafted solutions to the challenges and then presented them in a closing plenary session.
White papers inspired by the Leadership Summits are prepared by consultants John Milne and D.B. Scott. Each white paper captures the essence of the presentations, the questions that arose and the informal discussions that made up the summit.
