The Writers’ Trust of Canada has announced the shortlist for the 2017 Writers’ Trust/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize. The award recognizes new and developing writers with the best short story published in a Canadian literary journal. The jury, comprised of Kevin Hardcastle, Grace O’Connell, and Ayelet Tsabari, announced the shortlist on Tuesday, September 13.
This year’s shortlist is comprised of Sharon Bala for “Butter Tea at Starbucks” published in The New Quarterly, Richard Kelly Kemick for “The Most Human Part of You” published in Maisonneuve, and Darlene Naponse for “She Is Water” published in The Malahat Review.
