Ontario Arts Council Cross-Province Check-in

Earlier this year, the Ontario government announced $50 million in additional funding for the Ontario Arts Council. The increased funds will be rolled out over the next four years, bringing the total amount of provincial funding to the OAC to $80 million annually by 2020–21.

From the Ontario Arts Council:

“Here’s how the government’s new investment in Ontario’s not-for-profit professional arts sector will flow:

2016–17 2017–18 2018–19 2019–20 2020–21
Increase by year over
2016–17 base funding
$5M $10M $15M $20M
OAC’s base funding $60M $65M $70M $75M $80M

“The new funding is in addition to the recently launched Indigenous Culture Fund, which has been funded by the government at $5 million per year.”

Staff from the OAC, including Chair Rita Davies, Director and CEO Peter Caldwell, and Director of Granting Carolyn Vesely, will be visiting communities throughout Ontario in November and December for a series of presentations and Q&As. These sessions start this week! Dates are listed below.

The sessions are an opportunity to meet with OAC staff and have your questions answered about funding for Ontario’s arts sector.

The OAC will also schedule an online session in January for anyone unable to attend the in-person events.
