We are very excited to announce a new program that will help Magazines Canada members explore opportunities in new markets, network with industry leaders and professionals from all over the world, and make fruitful connections with fellow Canadian magazine publishers.
The Magazines Canada Export Program supports Canadian magazines in building communities of readership in international markets, and exploring new partnership opportunities, by providing financial support for outgoing delegations of Magazines Canada members to international trade events and conferences.
Since hosting the FIPP World Congress for the first time in Toronto in 2015, Magazines Canada has led a number of delegations to international magazine media conferences to build knowledge, stronger networks and new export opportunities for Canadian magazines. Magazines Canada members who participate in delegations will attend presentations and other professional development to help their operations prosper, and meet new platform and service providers, magazine professionals and thought leaders from around the world.
Upcoming delegations include the Business Information & Media Summit (BIMS) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November, and the FIPP Digital Innovators’ Summit in Berlin, Germany in March 2019. For more on planned delegations and program information, please visit magazinescanada.ca/program/export.
Plus: Upcoming Seminars and Webinars on the Creative Export Canada Program
If your magazine would like to learn more about exporting internationally, Canadian Heritage is also hosting in-person export seminars for companies and organizations in the creative industries. The first seminars take place in Toronto on November 2, 2018 and Montreal on November 7, 2018, with additional seminars in other cities to be confirmed soon.
In June 2018, Canadian Heritage announced Canada’s first Creative Export Strategy to promote Canadian creative industries by strengthening Canada’s presence in international markets. The Government has invested $125 million over five years to implement this strategy, which includes the new funding program Creative Export Canada.
The in-person seminars will focus on the Creative Export Strategy and CEC program, as well as the Trade Commissioner Service, international trade missions, events and partnerships, and other funding options and tools available to Canadian companies looking to export internationally.
