New Magazine Moment Campaign to Raise Awareness and Promote Newsstand Sales

Integrated marketing program includes contest, video, advertising and more

Launched in early March, the new Magazine Moment campaign asks readers to share their favourite magazine reading occasions, and entertains with a third video in our series of short, humorous magazine-stand scenarios. It also offers opportunities for Canadians to win more than $13,000 in contest prizes.

  • With Roots Canada, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and other sponsors, the Genuine Canadian Getaway contest offers 3 exciting city experiences—Calgary, Toronto and Quebec City—plus additional Roots gift card prizes.
  • Retail point-of-sale support includes videos, signage, posters and on-shelf backing cards. Gateway, Chapters Indigo, Presse Commerce, Atlantic News, McNally Robinson and other retailers are participating in the program.
  • Ads are available in both print and digital formats for member publications, websites and enewsletters, and also appear in search and web display advertising.
  • A robust social media presence includes Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • The video and related promotions will be part of several cultural events. Again this year, the Canadian Magazine Mashup video and ads will appear at HotDocs film festival screenings.
  • Other media bookings include transit advertising in selected cities, travel lounge distribution and the Magazine Moment enewsletter.

Targeting a repeat of previous campaign success

The previous Magazine Moment campaign saw newsstand sales of participating magazines increase by 3.6% over industry trends. This benefits both publishers and retailers—and ultimately the readers who discover Canadian magazines they can enjoy again and again.

In the words of one reader, Canadian magazines “let me get lost for a while, become inspired and gain a wealth of knowledge.” We hope the campaign will help even more readers discover a great reading experience with your magazine.
