The Word On The Street Toronto is right around the corner and Magazines Canada members will be well represented on September 25. On the revived Canadian Magazine Stage and in the Magazine Mews exhibitor section, association members will be easy to spot at the massive literary festival. For those who aren’t able to participate, Magazines Canada has you covered with our own members-only newsstand installation. (Would you like to get your Magazines Canada-distributed title on the shelves at The Word On The Street? It’s not too late! Contact Chris Chambers to get involved.)
The Canadian Magazine Stage hasn’t made an appearance at The Word On The Street for the past few years, but it is back in 2016 with a series of panel discussions on magazine topics, featuring speakers from a diverse selection of Magazines Canada members.
The afternoon program will include representatives from eco titles like A/J and EcoParent, literary journals like CNQ, Brick and Room, a panel on Canadian identity with a diverse mix of panellists from large and small publishers, and more fascinating topics. Other Magazines Canada members represented include Quill & Quire, Shameless, Broken Pencil, This Magazine and Toronto Life. The full Canadian Magazine Stage schedule can be found on The Word On The Street website.
Even off stage, Magazines Canada members will be plentiful. This year, members exhibiting at the festival enjoyed exclusive savings as the 10-15% early bird discount was extended an additional four months. Stop by the Magazine Mews to see these great magazines: Brainspace, Canada’s History, Carousel, Cinema Scope, Feathertale Review, Inuit Art Quarterly, Kayak, Spacing, Taddle Creek, The New Quarterly, The Walrus, Vallum and Zoomer.
Members who aren’t exhibiting individually may still make an appearance at the Magazines Canada Newsstand—a new initiative that will make sure our members don’t have to be in the city to show their stuff at Toronto’s The Word On The Street. The Magazines Canada Newsstand will sell exclusively member titles in our distribution program at standard cover prices.
The Word On The Street Toronto will take place from 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday, September 25 at Harbourfront Centre. With more than 200,000 visitors expected, Magazines Canada members can look forward to a busy day. If you are in the Toronto area, be sure to drop by and get in on the fun.
