On June 26, 2018, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced Canada’s first Creative Export Strategy to promote Canadian creative industries by strengthening Canada’s presence in international markets. The strategy builds on successful Canadian Heritage programs like the Canada Periodical Fund, adds new investments through a new funding program, and takes a strategic approach to key export markets.
The new Creative Export Strategy increases funds for export activities through five existing programs, including the Canada Periodical Fund.
The Government has invested $125 million over five years to implement this strategy, which includes the new funding program Creative Export Canada. This new program will equip Canadian creators with the tools they need to successfully reach international buyers and audiences. Details on Creative Export Canada are expected to be released in the coming days, with an application deadline set for the end of the summer.
