The World Health Organization elevated the status of the COVID-19 Coronavirus to a pandemic classification on March 11. On the following day the City of Toronto activated its Emergency Operations Centre. This will ensure that the City effectively manages the response to the COVID-19 virus as conditions change.
In light of these announcements and the evolving public health situation, Magazines Canada has decided out of an abundance of caution to re-schedule our April 22–23 events MagNet: Canada’s Magazine Conference and the Arts & Literary Magazines Summit. These events will now be held November 26–27, 2020 at the same venue, the Courtyard Toronto Downtown.
MagNet and the Summit bring together a large number of our colleagues and friends who work in the Canadian magazine industry, including members, sponsors, speakers, suppliers and funders. We have been actively monitoring Toronto Public Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada and although their current assessment is that overall risk in Canada remains low, the health and safety of MagNet delegates and the Magazines Canada team is our number one priority.
For delegates who registered to attend MagNet or the Arts & Literary Magazines Summit in April, we will honour your registration for the new event dates in November. If you cannot attend in November and would like to cancel your registration, please contact our Manager of Member Services Kiley Pole at firstname.lastname@example.org and she’ll arrange to refund your registration costs.
We look forward to serving up outstanding professional development and networking opportunities to you all at MagNet and the Arts & Literary Magazines Summit in November. Stay tuned for further details.
