In June 2018, Canadian Heritage announced Canada’s first Creative Export Strategy to promote Canadian creative industries by strengthening Canada’s presence in international markets. In addition to increasing funds for export activities through existing programs, including the Canada Periodical Fund, Canadian Heritage also launched the standalone program Creative Export Canada, exclusively dedicated to funding export activities.
