Dear Magazines Canada Members,
Slightly ahead of our fiscal year transition, we just wanted to communicate some updates to our board. Our outstanding board chair for FY24-25, Alysa Procida, has had to step away from this role after leaving her role at Inuit Art Quarterly (meaning she is no longer affiliated with a member-magazine). We are grateful for the leadership, industry knowledge, and general wisdom Alysa has shared so generously with the board and MC over the years and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
And we are equally grateful to have a fantastic new chair to step into place. Delon Rashid is the President and Managing Partner of Turnkey Media Solutions Inc. He began his career in B2B media in 2008 as a junior sales representative at Newcom Media Inc in the automotive aftermarket division and has over 17 years experience in B2B media sales and publishing. Delon is proud to be a young visible minority publisher in Canada, using his knowledge and experience to continue to produce the best quality media for his readers. Delon has contributed a lot to the board as a member, as a vice-chair, and we are all excited to continue working with him now as chair.
Right by his side will be Danielle Labrie, our incoming vice-chair, moving from her previous spot as secretary-treasurer. Danielle has been an omni-channel media professional for 20 years, starting in B2C prior to moving into B2B media with Annex Business Media in 2010. As a sales manager and publisher, Danielle launched several new media brands and events. Danielle is currently a Group Publisher and Director, leading the company’s Construction Group and moving Annex into the future as a key member of the executive team. Danielle is a natural coach, helping Annex’s next-gen grow their role in the industry. She has spoken at B2B industry events and hosted webinars on B2B sales among other topics. We’re thrilled that Danielle’s industry savvy and unique perspectives will be helping to steer our board conversations.
These shifts will leave us with three board seats coming available at our upcoming AGM, so if you’re interested in joining the conversation, please stay tuned for eligibility and application requirements, coming very soon. In the meantime, the current board is in good hands, and as ever, standing on the shoulders of the greats who came before. Thanks to all who volunteer their time and expertise so generously.
