Magazines Canada held its annual general meeting online on June 5, 2019, at which members elected Dominique Ritter Chair of Canada’s national magazine association for the two-year period spanning 2019–2021.
Dominique Ritter is Editor-in-Chief at Reader’s Digest Canada, where she is lucky to work with a team of magazine wizards who happen to be the most delightful people you could imagine. She has also worked as an editor for Bookmark (formerly Spafax), The Canadian Encyclopedia and Adbusters. Dominique played a key role in the Board-led committee that helped craft the association’s current Strategic Plan, which carries Magazines Canada to its 50th anniversary in 2023. She was also instrumental in discussions about growing the membership base at Magazines Canada, advocating strongly for welcoming digital magazines into the fold. Dominique is a champion of diversity and of the need for the association to reflect the Canadian society its members strive to represent in their publications, and she cares deeply about workplace safety and wellness.
She succeeds Past Chair Scott Jamieson, Chief Operating Officer at Annex Business Media.
Also elected to the Board at yesterday’s annual meeting were Ryan Benn, Gilles Gagnier, Joe Glionna, Scott Jamieson, Chelene Knight, Samia Madwar and Jennifer Varkonyi.
