| The Magazine Association of BC and its magazines are celebrating BC Magazine Day on Sunday, November 26 to bring our incredibly creative, entrepreneurial, and hard-working industry into the spotlight.
“BC Magazine Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of magazine professionals and publishers, appreciate the range and quality of local publications, and recognize the magazine industry’s important contributions to informing and entertaining people living in British Columbia and around the world.” — Excerpt from the Proclamation, signed by The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
To celebrate BC Magazine Day 2023, two of our member magazines have planned activities on Sunday in coordination with MagsBC.
MagsBC invites other BC magazines to participate in this day, as well as those outside of BC as part of World Magazine Day as proposed by Monocle magazine.
It could be:
- A quick writeup about your own magazine or your work: how it got started, what you love about what you do, what’s great about your readers, etc.
- Another magazine you really enjoy and why
- A short, fun/insightful story you have working in our industry.
- A shout-out to a magazine freelancer located in BC (journalist, writer, photographer, illustrator, designer, podcast(er), or other creative or hardworking professional (printer, ad salesperson, distributor, etc.)) or elsewhere that you admire
- Whatever else you can think of to celebrate our industry!
